Does it seem like President George W. Bush is deliberately provoking instability and chaos throughout the world? Four years into our reaction to the WTO attacks, are we any better off or have we escalated every danger from every possible source? Exactly why won't Bush cry "uncle" and face Cindy Sheehan a second time, now that the world knows the truth about his lies that put her son, Casey, in Iraq and took his life?
These are the questions I would ask George Bush if I had the chance. And other questions. Do the neo-cons really think the average American is so stupid or forgetfull that they can't connect the dots and see the big picture? Do they really believe that if they say a thing enough times it makes it so? Does George Bush actually expect a "noble" outcome to his biggest mistake so far? And the most important question remains: Mr. Bush, do you actually believe that you have been commissioned by GOD to stir shit up in the Middle East and usher in the Age of Armaggedon?
See, I used to believe in GOD, too. And Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. I also used to think that being born and living in the United States of America was a fortunate thing compared to the state of the rest of the world's nations. But that was also back when we thought plastic was a good idea and that life is better with chemicals. Things are different now and we understand that we've been sold huge lies throughout history by everyone we were taught to trust: our parents, our teachers, our churches and our governments.
The only important things I learned in school were 1) History is bound to repeat itself unless we learn from our mistakes, and 2) How to learn. I've taken the second lesson to the extreme and have re-educated myself inside-out. Truth doesn't always set us free; sometimes it demands service and sacrifice to more noble causes that won't be ignored, othertimes it just is and all we can change is how we feel about it.
Personally, I'm as saddened as I am angered. It saddens me to see Americans against Americans, families ripped apart by conflicting ideologies, neighbors suspicious of each other, innocents murdered in the name of a "noble" cause that we can't seem to shove down the throats of non-westernized Iraqis. I'm angered because terror HAS gripped America and we HAVE changed the way we live our daily lives. I'm especially angry because it didn't have to happen. We allowed it to happen by placing too much trust and power in the hands of an institution that was bound to be infiltrated by those who now occupy both America and Iraq.
The problem with TRUTH is that once you know it, you are morally and spiritually obligated to adhere to it, process it and, if necessary, act upon it. We know that the Bush Administration planned the war in Iraq (and the entire "Axis of Evil") before they were ever invited into the White House and Pentagon. Still, President Bush and his entourage insist on linking the Events on 9/11 to the noble cause of dethroning Saddam Hussein. That is what got us there; that is the lie that took Casey Sheehan's life. All his mother wants is for George Bush to tell the truth, no matter how ugly that truth might be. We can take it, we'll process it and, if necessary, take action. We already know the lie ... we want the truth!
